69 (72)*. Bentching in the Home of a Gentile
If one eats in a goy’s house or in a similar place, for example a hotel belonging to a goy, there is a discussion in Halacha about changing the Nusach of Bentching, such that instead of saying Horachamon Hu Yishlach Brocho Merubo BeBayis Hazeh, that Hashem should send blessing to this home, which according to many Poiskim is not said when eating in the home of a goy, it would be replaced by a different text, Horachamon Hu Yishlach Brocho baHalichoseinu, that Hashem should send blessing wherever we go, baOilam Hazeh uleOilam HaBo, in this world and for the next world, etc. There is also a discussion whether a Mezuman can be made when one is eating in a non-Jewish home because that may not be considered a Keviyus, a fixed type of meal. If one is in such a situation, they should consult a Rov so as to ascertain the correct procedure.
