Selling or Buying Olam Habah
There are many stories told in Jewish literature about individuals who sold their portion in olam habah, the World-to-Come, or bought a share of another’s, and people who sold their aveiros, transgressions (so that another person should be punished in their stead). This raises the issue of whether these transactions are legitimate from a halachic standpoint. It seems pretty clear that despite the many stories, such transactions are not legitimate according to halachah. One who aspires to acquire olam habah should invest in something much more worthwhile: learning Torah and doing mitzvos. One can share in the olam habah of others by supporting them financially, and thereby facilitating their Torah learning. #262?1
