Making Enough Brochos?

There is a Halacha dating back to the time of Dovid HaMelech, and perhaps even earlier, that one must say one hundred Brochos every day. On most days this is very easy to achieve, although sometimes one would have to actually keep count in order to ensure they really say one hundred Brochos that day, such as on days when the Shemonei Esrei does not include all nineteen Brochos as on Shabbos and Yom Tov, and on fast days where there are no Brochos on food and drink. There is a debate amongst contemporary Poskim if this Halacha also applies to women and children. There are many Brochos in the usual count of one hundred Brochos that women would not ordinarily make on a regular day. The Rebbe stated very clearly that it is a custom to give children sweets and candies in order to train them in saying many Brochos so as to get to one hundred Brochos. The Rebbe also mentioned the idea of women saying one hundred Brochos. This may not be an obligation, but rather a meritorious behavior. However, there is clearly a point for women and children to try to say one hundred Brochos every day.
